Who we are

Neil To No-One

An old school hip hop head and funk DJ, Neil To No-One has been making beats ever since he laid hands on an Atari sequencer and Akai sampler way back in the days. In the 90’s he was a lead member of UK rap/production outfit, Unanimous Decision, with several releases on the West London indie label, Kold Sweat Records.

After a long hiatus grafting at a ‘proper job’, his creative flow is thankfully back, nourishing the soul like nothing else really can. Still firmly anchored in 70s breakbeats and grooves, but with a more eclectic outlook, Neil has developed a sound that is both forward-looking and deeply rooted in hip-hop tradition. His work reflects not just technical expertise, but lived experience, shaped by personal struggles with health, loss, and hardship, and by a profound belief in the healing power of music.

Neil’s latest creative chapter finds him reaching across the Atlantic to collaborate with Los Angeles based rapper, EVeryman, an artist celebrated for his reflective lyricism and conscious approach to hip-hop. Together, they embody a transatlantic synergy that highlights the unifying nature of music in today’s digital age. Their partnership was forged online, with Neil building beats in his UK home studio while EVeryman laid down vocals in LA. Despite the physical distance, their collaboration is organic and seamless, as though born from the same creative space.

The duo’s shared influences are a tapestry of legends and innovators: the lyrical agility of A Tribe Called Quest, Little Brother, and Beastie Boys; the genre-defying flair of Gorillaz, FKJ, and Jazzanova; and the timeless grooves of funk and jazz icons like James Brown, Roy Ayers, and Nile Rodgers. This eclectic foundation has given rise to a sound that is at once nostalgic and refreshing, appealing to fans of old-school hip-hop and contemporary music alike.

Neil has been based out in Kent, England, since 2010, having moved out of South London for a quieter life and to raise a young family (though these two things can sometimes seem like complete opposites!).
